Obituary of John P. Quinn, Jr

CHELMSFORDJohn P. Quinn, Jr., beloved husband of the late Priscilla McGaughey Quinn, a resident of Chelmsford, MA, and Moultonborough, NH, passed away on June 3, 2024. He celebrated 53 years of marriage to his late wife, Priscilla.John was born on 30 January 1939, a son of the late John P. and Anna G. (McSorley) Quinn. Like his parents, he was a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, a longtime communicant and supporter of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford, and a lifelong member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks #2310. He graduated from Keith Academy in 1956 and Merrimack College in 1960. While at Merrimack, he was elected to the student body, was a member of the SBK fraternity, received the Hutchinson Memorial Award for outstanding was a marketing student in his class, and was on the dean’s list for all eight semesters of his college. career with an overall GPA of 3.45, and was class marshal for his graduating class. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. From 1960 to 1966, he served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve at Ft. Dix, NJ, Ft. Sill, OK, and with the 324th Data Processing Unit, USAR, and was honorably discharged as an E-6 staff sergeant. He worked for Unisys Corporation for 40 years in marketing and sales management, selling and implementing a wide range of business and computer systems. He enjoyed spending time in the summer with his family at their summer residence on Lake Winnipesaukee in Buzzell Cove, Moultonborough, NH, and after both he and his wife’s retirement, wintering at Beachwalk Gardens, Naples, FL. During their retirement they enjoyed traveling and took many trips, including celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii and their 50th anniversary in Ireland. Three children and two grandchildren survive him; Allison C. Quinn of Quincy, John P. (Jack) Quinn, III and his husband Curtis J. Strohl of New York, NY, and Daniel J. Quinn and his wife Margo Conroy Quinn of Chelmsford; granddaughters Katherine and Gabrielle Quinn; a sister, Ann G. Anstiss of Chelmsford; his cousin Raymond L. Anstiss of Chelmsford; his nieces Julie McDougall of Chelmsford, and Barbara Anstiss of Lowell; and cousins ​​Patricia O’Brien, Leonard Flynn, Peter Flynn, Joanna Doykos, Mary Gail Frawley O’Dea, Deborah Monteforte. John was devoted to his family, country, faith and his Irish heritage. During his trip to Ireland in 2005 with his wife Priscilla, he visited his grandparents’ birthplace in the village of Dingle, County Kerry, where he saw the house where his grandfather grew up. When he could, he enjoyed attending his granddaughters’ gatherings. sporting events and school activities and was proud of their achievements. He was their biggest supporter and always had many words of encouragement.
