FSU Men’s Basketball to Play in Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off


Florida State plays Temple (Nov. 22, 5 p.m.) and UMass (Nov. 24, p.m.) in the 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Ct., as Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and his staff move on continues to build the Seminoles’ 2024-2025 schedule.

The round-robin tournament with predetermined opponents also includes Vermont, Delaware, Yale and Fairfield, along with the Seminoles, the Owls and the Minutemen.

The Seminoles begin play in the event against Temple of the American Athletic Conference in a series that began in 1992.

The Seminoles won the first game of the series in a match played at the Milk Challenge in Orlando and most recently facing the Owls in the 2016 NIT Tip-Off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY

Florida State closes out play in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic against UMass and head coach Frank Martin, renewing a streak that began in 1992.

The Seminoles and the Minutemen are tied 4-4 in the all-time series. The most recent matchup between the teams took place at the 2014 Naismith Hall of Fame Classic at Mohegan Sun.

Florida State has won three of its last four games against UMass, including a 73-63 win on Feb. 12, 2006, at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.

“We are very excited to play in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic against two well-coached teams that will challenge all of our offensive and defensive principles,” said Hamilton. “Both Temple (of Adam Fisher) and Massachusetts (of Coach Martin) have always been well-coached and well-prepared for any opponent.

“We also know that both teams are going to play hard. These are two really good games for us in November that will help prepare us for ACC play coming up after the tournament at the Mohegan Sun.”

Tickets for the 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off and Showcase go on sale Friday, September 6 through Ticketmaster and will be available for purchase Saturday, September 7 at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office.
