Cryptic Michael Chandler update fuels rumors that Conor McGregor fight is over

Conor McGregor’s clash with Michael Chandler appears to be in grave danger – with the latter’s social media post sparking speculation that the fight is over.

The pair were set to clash in a headline fight at UFC 303 on June 29, although many signs now point to the clash not happening.

Chief among these was the cancellation of the pre-fight press conference, which was due to take place in Dublin on Monday.

Additionally, McGregor’s potential opponent then posted a message to fans on social media letting them know he could be found in his native Tennessee – suggesting a departure from Florida, where he had been in training camp.

He posted on Instagram: “If you’re looking for me, I’m in Tennessee. No way out of the life we chose…’

A pay-per-view link for the fight also appeared to have been removed by broadcaster ESPN, while footage of McGregor in action in previous fights has also been removed from the UFC’s official YouTube channel.

McGregor confirmed the cancellation of Monday’s press commitments and referred to “obstacles beyond our control” before promising to put on the “biggest show” – albeit without referring to June 29.

He said: “In consultation with the UFC, today’s press conference has been canceled due to a series of obstacles beyond our control.

‘I apologize to my Irish fans and fans around the world for any inconvenience caused and I appreciate all your passion and support.

“I can’t wait to perform the greatest show of all time in the octagon.”
