Obituary: Flemon ‘Lee’ Harper – Sumner County Source

Flemon-Lee-Harper

Flemon “Lee” Harper, 84, of Castalian Springs, TN, passed away in his sleep on May 28, 2024.

Flemon was born on August 7, 1939 to Lillard and Evie, and the youngest sibling of Shirley and John Harper, in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Flemon served faithfully in the United States Navy for 21 years as a Supply Ship Serviceman and retired to the prestigious rank of Chief Petty Officer. SHC Harper served 15 of his 21 years on U.S. Navy destroyer ships deployed to Vietnam, Yokosuka, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Long Beach and San Diego, California. His shore stations were at Camp Lejeune, NC and Yokosuka, Japan.

Lee, as most knew him, was a simple and unassuming man who enjoyed watching Western TV shows, Tennessee Football and horror films. He always enjoyed cooking breakfast for his family and eating out at Chinese restaurants. He was not one to sit quietly at home. He could often be found driving around town looking for garage sales and always bargaining at flea markets.

Flemon Lee Harper is survived by his daughter, Dawn Lee Kehaulani Harper; son, Chad Dwayne Harper (Tonya); granddaughter, Ashley Taylor; cousins, Timmy Harper (Brenda), Lil Timmy Haper; cousin, Peggy Lemons; sister-in-law, Alfrieda McMillan; and granddog, Maza.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Jobyna Chong Yuk “Sid” Harper; son, Ian Westley Harper; parents, Lillard and Evie Harper; and siblings, Shirley and John Harper.

Following his cremation, Mr. Harper will be buried in the Gallatin City Cemetery next to his wife and son, with full military honors. https://www.crestviewfh.com
