Golfweek publishes list of top 5 golf courses in New Hampshire

Golfweek released its annual best golf courses for every state in the U.S. for 2024 on Monday.

And if you want to play in New Hampshire, they recommend going to White Mountain.

The requirements for a course to be included on this list are as follows: The course must be publicly accessible in some way, either through standard daily green fees or through a stay at a resort or hotel.

The second condition is that no membership is required to play on the course, with the exception of the possibility that hotel guests can also play on the course.

Let’s take a look at which courses made it onto the list.

Omni Mount Washington Resortin Bretton Woods

The Omni Mount Washington Resort golf course is ranked one of Golfweek’s best courses in the Granite State.

The resort has two golf courses: the 18-hole Mount Washington course and the 9-hole Mount Pleasant course.

The two courses are flanked by the Presidential Mountain Range and offer jaw-dropping scenic views, according to the resort’s website.

But only Mount Washington Golf Course earned Golfweek’s top spot for New Hampshire’s best golf courses.

It is a par 72 course of 7,004 meters, designed by iconic Scottish architect Donald Ross in 1915 and restored by Brian Silva when the course reopened in 2008.

The course also features “bunkers crafted in a classic flair offering infinite types of recovery shots” in the tightly trimmed areas around the putting greens, according to the website.

You can play this course by calling the resort clubhouse at 603-278-3322 and inquiring about tee times and their current rates.

New Hampshire Country Club in Sutton

The Country Club of New Hampshire Golf Course is ranked second among the five best golf courses in New Hampshire.

On this golf course you play at the foot of Mount Kearsage. The course itself measures 6,000 to 7,000 yards and features lush green fairways, according to the club’s web page.

You can play by reserving a starting time at the bottom right of the website.

Owl’s Nest in Thornton

Located in the town of Thornton, the Owl’s Nest was ranked as the third best golf course in New Hampshire by Golfweek.

The Owl’s Nest course is the only Nicklaus Design course in the state. According to Nest’s website, it has elevation changes, a driving range and views of the White Mountains.

You can play by reserving a tee time here.
