Obituary of Earl Benson – CO

Earl Benson 89, formerly of Boulder, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Fairmont, Nebraska. As a master sergeant in the Air Force during World War II, Earl was a prisoner of war in German Stalag 17 for two years. Earl received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained during the war. Earl retired after twenty years and settled in Table Mesa, Boulder, where he worked for the National Bureau of Standards for eleven years. Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Juanita Frances Benson, and his daughter Rose Marie Straw. Earl is survived by his daughter Jill Anne Nordquist and family of Longmont. A full military honors ceremony will take place on Friday, May 25 at 2:00 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
