Milwaukee Brewers – Chicago White Sox trade proposal that sends two starting pitchers to the Brew Crew goes viral

The Milwaukee Brewers are in dire need of starting pitchers right now. In time, guys like Jakob Junis, Taylor Clarke, Joe Ross and Robert Gasser should return this season, but even if they do, they will still lack quality top-of-the-rotation arms like they have in had the last few seasons with Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff.

Health aside, this should put the Brewers in trade talks for ace starting pitchers this summer. The cost of acquiring some of the top-tier guns available will be expensive, but recently a trade proposal from David Gasper of Reviewing the Brew went viral.

In an article at Reviewing The Brew, David Gasper discussed three different trade proposals between the Brewers and White Sox that all sent the Brew Crew left-handed starting pitcher Garrett Crochet. One of these deals also involved right-handed starter Erick Fedde and it is going viral.

Brewers receive:

  • LHP Garrett Crochet and RHP Erick Fedde

White Sox receive:

  • 1B Tyler Black, 3B Brock Wilken and RHP Bradley Blalock

This proposed deal gives the Brewers two starting pitchers with multiple years of control. Crochet has two and a half years of team control remaining, but he has an injury history that includes Tommy John surgery that cost him the entire 2022 season and shoulder issues that limited him to just 12.2 innings a season ago. Fedde is a few months into a two-year contract after rejuvenating his career abroad and is expected to earn $7.5 million in 2025.

Chicago, who according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is asking for at least one infield prospect in a deal for Crochet, would get the Brewers’ top two infield prospects in Tyler Black and Brock Wilken. Black (third-ranked) was selected 33rd overall in the 2021 draft and got a cup of coffee in the major leagues earlier this year, while Wilken (fifth-ranked) went 18th in last year’s draft. Blalock was acquired via trade last offseason and ranks 17th on the Brewers top 30 prospects list per MLB Pipeline.

Fans are reacting to this viral trade proposal from Brewers and White Sox.
