The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for many Nebraska counties, including Lancaster, until 11 p.m. Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible in Lancaster, especially before 3am. Some storms can cause heavy rainfall. Wind gusts of up to 22 km/h can occur. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

The strongest storms could produce areas with significant damaging winds and hail, flash flooding and a chance of some brief tornadoes. The best chance for severe weather is southwest of a line from Oneill to Columbus to Syracuse to Nebraska City… between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

The greatest risk of flash flooding is generally along or just south of this line.
