Norma Oliver Obituary – Torrance, CA (1931-2016)

Norma Ione Oliver Norma I, a longtime resident of Torrance, passed away on June 12, 2016. Born just outside Scotia, Nebraska on December 4, 1931, Norma moved to California in the early 1950s. She worked for American Airlines for many years, where she met her husband (now deceased) Jerome Oliver, to whom she was married for more than 40 years. They raised two sons: Lloyd DeGonia, a retired Torrance police lieutenant, and Scott Oliver, also a former city of Torrance employee and U.S. Marine. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Dulitz of Kearney Nebraska and wife Nancy, and her daughters-in-law Kristine DeGonia and Sally Oliver. Norma was very proud of her two grandsons, Jarrod DeGonia, deputy to LA County Board of Supervisor Mike Antonovich, and wife Ileen and Joshua DeGonia, deputy district attorney in Murrieta, and wife Kimberly. Norma is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Kaelyn and Reese DeGonia, as well as surrogate grandchildren Richard and Robert Vivas and Jordana and Chase Williams. Norma embraced life and her family and will be greatly missed. The family will hold a private ceremony at sea at Redondo Beach on Avenue I.
