Employee preparing the ‘dead’ woman for burial was not ready for what would happen next

A worker preparing a body for burial was shocked to find the woman still breathing.

Constance Glantz, 74, was pronounced dead at the hospice where she lived and taken to a funeral home in Nebraska. While she was at Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln on Monday morning, an employee began preparing her for a funeral.

However, the employee soon discovered Constance was very much alive and called police, according to Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin. When authorities were called, parlor staff began resuscitating Constance before she was taken to a hospital.

A doctor had examined her and signed her death certificate.

At a press conference later in the day, Mr Houchin said: “It’s a very unusual case. I’ve been doing this for 31 years and nothing like it has ever gotten to this point before.”
