LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A traffic violation in northeastern Nebraska led to the arrest of a wanted Florida man on Monday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 8:10 a.m., a deputy stopped a speeding vehicle driven by 44-year-old Dillard McCoy Cook of Florida on Highway 275 near Stanton.

The deputy learned that Cook had an active felony arrest warrant in Rock County, Illinois, for failure to appear, the sheriff’s office said.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Cook waived extradition to Illinois and will remain in custody until captured.
