Heat wave: triple-digit temperatures heading to Texas, California, Arizona – KVNU

A life-threatening heat wave is hitting the West, where temperatures could soar above 110 degrees from California to Nevada to Arizona.

The dangerous triple-digit heat will hit Texas first on Tuesday, with record highs possible in San Antonio, Abilene, San Angelo and Del Rio.

A high of 109 degrees is forecast in Las Vegas on Wednesday and Phoenix could reach a record-breaking 110 degrees.

On Thursday, Las Vegas could reach 111 degrees and Phoenix could reach a scorching 113 degrees.

The record heat will spread north Thursday and Friday, bringing temperatures in the 90s to Oregon and Idaho.

The heat will continue until the beginning of the weekend.

Doctors recommend taking warnings about excessive heat seriously. According to CDC WONDER, an online database, hundreds of deaths occur in the U.S. each year due to excessive heat. Scientists warn that the actual number of heat-related deaths is likely higher.
