Woman stabs 3-year-old child to death in random attack outside Ohio market: officials

A woman reportedly killed a three-year-old child in what officials described as a random attack outside an Ohio supermarket.

North Olmsted Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis.

Police said officers responded to a report of a possible stabbing in the parking lot of North Olmsted Giant Eagle on Monday afternoon.

North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones said two people were injured, including a mother and her toddler.

“I am deeply saddened by an incident this afternoon in the parking lot of the North Olmsted Giant Eagle Supermarket. A woman, who is currently in the custody of the North Olmsted Police Department, stabbed a female customer and her 3-year-old son,” said Dailey Jones, who also noted they were taken to St. John Medical Center.

“Our thoughts go out to the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence,” the mayor added.

The boy later died, according to WBNS. According to media reports, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the boy as 3-year-old Julian Wood. Police have not released the identity of his mother or her condition, WBNS noted.
