1 dead in west greenwich fire that started in homes garage: reports

WEST GREENWICH, RI – One person is dead following a fire Monday evening at a West Greenwich home that started in the garage, according to multiple reports.

Firefighters responded to the home on Carrs Pond Road just after 9 p.m. and found the garage on fire, according to Lake Mishnock Fire Rescue, who assisted.


The house was soon completely engulfed in flames, WPRI reported. One resident was able to escape, but another resident died, the newspaper said.

WJAR reported that the victim was a 59-year-old woman.
